Airline Manufacturing Price Wars - Or Is It Just A Little Free-Market Competition?

Airline
Well, it appears that airliner sales have been slowing down, but the competition has been heating up. No one can really say what the actual price of all the airliners being sold happened to be, because they change between various deals, options, models, financing, quantity, and frequent sales. Okay so let's go ahead and talk about this for second shall we?
There was an interesting comment by the CEO of Airbus not too long ago, one which, I as a free-market capitalist cringed, because it appeared that Airbus very much enjoys its duopoly on the global airliner market that has with Boeing. Apparently Airbus feels that it deserves to compete in this way, and it hopes it can continue. Still, there's a big difference between monopolies, duopolies, cartels, and good old free-market competition.
Market Watch reported on July 16, 2012 "Airbus CEO says Boeing starting price war: report," which stated that the Airbus CEO said the Boeing Company was;
Airline
"instigating a price war to drum up interest in its short-haul 737 Max airliner against Airbus' hit A320neo," and said Boeing was attempting to gain market share, but "If their aircraft was better, they need not do that."
Now then, no offense to the Airbus CEO, but it's called competition, and may the best company win. And even if it is true that the Boeing Company is competing for price, aka in socialist terms; A Price War, then Airbus ought to realize that generally speaking the first mover to lower prices generally preempts and wins the price war, "so anyone wanting to short Airbus stock, now would be a smart time to do that," I recently joked to a friend.
Airline
Now then, I understand where all this comes from because I also realize that much of the European Union thinks along the lines of socialist, and labor parties. Airbus wants to make a profit, and pay high wages, and compete against the rest of the world while having the prices fixed so that everyone can make money. That's all good and wonderful for the airliner manufacturing industry, but what about all the customers, clients, and airlines by those Jets?
Airline
Are these customers not entitled to the best price, should they stop shopping around, and should Airbus and Boeing really be engaged in maintaining high prices, while keeping all the competition out of the industry? Are they asking for more collusion, and a continuation of this duopoly? It appears obvious to me that the Chinese want to into the market with their Comac C919, and that the Russians would like to help their airliner manufacturers Tupolev and Sukhoi do the same. What about Brazil and Canada with Embraer and Bombardier?
Look, if Boeing doesn't compete on price, quality, and service - yes, all three, then eventually those other airline manufacturers will find a slot to break into the industry in a big way. So at this point Airbus needs to increase production, lower costs, get their labor unions thinking straight, and deliver those airliners they've taken orders for and promised to their customers for the very best price they can. It's called competition, and it's good for America, it's good for Europe, and it's good for the world. It's time that Airbus dealt with it. Please consider all this and think on it.

How to Conduct a Smooth Last Minute Moving?

It is true that people move houses, states and even countries for a variety of different reasons. People move out of their houses as they don't like their neighborhoods, people change states and move houses as they get a bigger and better job while entire families move countries to get a shot at earning more. There may be a variety of different reasons for moving places but the thing that remains constant will all relocations is that they are not fully planned and usually happen in a rush. Last minute moving can become a big headache if not handled professionally with the help of truck rental companies.
Truck rental companies offer and help facilitate moving houses by providing transportation services. One always needs a large transportation medium to move all the household items that will be moved along with the family and the truck rental companies provide just that. The truck rental companies offer different types of transportation mediums like moving vans, medium sized trucks and large-size trailers and it depends on the quantity and size of the items that need to be moved. If one does not have large goods to move then a small moving van should be enough while if furniture, master-beds and other large items needs moving then a medium to large size truck is used. To help facilitate quick contact in case of last minute moving, truck rental companies have online websites and they can be easily contacted through the website.
Some truck rental companies not only rent trucks or moving vans to help facilitate last minute moving but also offer labor and packing items so as to further help the client. When moving at the last possible moment, having labor to pack the goods and load them into the transportation medium can be really helpful. The client mostly has the choice whether to choose this service and if the client doesn't want labor and packing items then moving companies simply offer a transportation medium along with a driver to move the goods.

It is important to note that the truck rental companies provide quotes after analyzing the size of truck that one would need and the distance that needs to be covered. Moreover, extra charges for labor and packing equipment (if used) are also inducted in the final quote. One can easily ask two or three truck rental companies about the quote before finally settling for the company that offers the best rate.

How To Redefine Your Goals and Reinvent Time!

Reinvent Time
Are you missing out on experiencing the good life because you have a badly organised schedule? Are you skipping through the day wondering why you don't have time to do the things you really want to do? In reality, staying organised is easier than you might think; all you need to do is start using some handy and reliable tools.
These tools need not be state of the art, hi-tech electronic devices, but should be simple, portable and as resourceful as possible. (As long as you can put your iPhone down for a minute and try them out!)
So imagine - a printable calendar with space to write your own memos and notes. In a world where so many communication tools are digital based, it's refreshing to be able to stay 'tuned in' to future commitments and responsibilities using a real paper calendar.
So how do you redefine your goals and reinvent time?
Reinvent Time
It's simple really. To start, you need to do a search for what free calendar options are available. You can easily source blank printable calendars which can be downloaded in the widely used PDF format. Once you find the right one, download as needed and prepare to get yourself super organised!
To add the golden touch of customisation, simply edit the calendar template with design tools or software (Microsoft Word, Photoshop etc), inserting your company's logo, theme, slogan or photographs if needed.
The most common printable calendar is usually blank with lots of space to work on redefining those goals. The process of "reinventing time" is where you actually plan out your day, week or month on paper. When people refer to "time management" then this is what they're talking about.
Reinvent Time
Reinventing time is really just about using your time wisely and effectively. For example, apart from work commitments you can use your new 'calendar buddy' to share your commitment to events or activities, from jotting down the gym workout to managing important financial details. Told you it was simple!
Reinvent TimeTo take your time management a little further, use a yearly calendar, such as a 2013 calendar, as a planning and budgeting exercise. These calendars are an excellent, hands-on tool for adults and children alike. Get children into a fun daily routine of using calendars to plan out activities days, weeks and months ahead.
In a nutshell, a printable calendar is incredibly useful for anyone who wants to stay organised. The more organised you are, the more efficient you'll be! Students, for example, can easily keep track of their progress with entries in the calendar on a daily basis.
Simple things do matter in the long run and a handy, practical tool like a blank calendar is the first stepping stone towards dealing with demanding situations in a simple and effective way, year after year!

Business Travel Insurance

Travel InsuranceAnyone that travels a lot should consider travel insurance, but those that travel for business often overlook the importance of this protection. Business travel insurance is simply a good idea because it can provide you with the protection that you need whether you are traveling just a short or long distance away from home. You never know when you are going to need the protection that insurance can provide, so you should look into business travel insurance before you go on your next trip.
The great thing about business travel insurance is that the individual can purchase it or a company can purchase it. Many companies are choosing to purchase the insurance for all of their employees that travel. This is a very economical way to buy the coverage as many companies can offer bulk buy discounts. This can be a particularly good idea for companies that host a lot of conferences, meetings, team building events, training courses, product launches, and the like. Many businesses offer corporate hospitality outings and the like, and even on these fun getaways employees should be protected and business travel insurance is a great way to get that protection.
Travel InsuranceIf you happen to be an employee that travels to a lot of business oriented annual general meetings, exhibitions, seminars, or conventions and you aren't provided with business travel insurance you can buy it yourself. The coverage is not at all expensive, and you may even be able to purchase the coverage at the same time that you plan an event or plan your travel, which will make it convenient to purchase. When you purchase this protection you can go on your business travels and not worry about what would happen if you were robbed, if your luggage was lost, or if you needed medical attention in an area where your usual medical or dental insurance was not valid.
Many of us think about travel insurance when we are going on vacation or visiting exotic vacations, but this is not the only time when you need the protection that this type of insurance can provide. Business travel insurance is just as important as the insurance that you would buy when flying across the world for an exotic vacation or honeymoon because there is just as much opportunity for you to encounter health problems or circumstances that you just did not plan for. Why should you be any less equipped to handle these problems on a business trip than you would be when you are on vacation? When you leave home you should feel safe, secure, and confident in your abilities to handle any situation and with business travel insurance you can do this.
Travel InsuranceIf you don't travel often or you only travel once a year you can opt to purchase your business travel insurance for just one trip. All you have to do is disclose when you will be travelling, where you will be going, and when you will be returning. This is generally very affordable and will offer you the protection that you should have on your one trip. If you travel all the time for work you can choose to buy your business travel insurance for the whole year. While this is more expensive in the beginning, it is cheaper over the course of the year than it would be to purchase the coverage every time you go away on travel. Many times there are also different levels of coverage to choose from, so you can choose from very basic coverage to very extensive coverage, based on your needs. When you purchase the travel business insurance you may want to consider the areas that you travel to as well as what sort of coverage your other insurance coverage may provide as this information will help you determine what sort of coverage you need.
Travel InsuranceIt used to be more difficult to buy travel insurance, and that is why many people simply opted not to do it. In many cases you had to go right to an insurance agent and you had to fill out a ton of paperwork, or you could go to a travel agent and do the same thing. Now, you can purchase your business travel insurance right along with your other travel needs such as but not limited to your event planning services, your car rental services, lodging, transportation, and airfare. This is very convenient and allows for those that didn't want to bother with the coverage before because of the hassle to purchase the benefits of travel insurance. Next time you receive notice that you have to travel for your job, why not look into travel business insurance and see what protection it can offer you? It's better to have the protection and not need it than need it and not have it!

Is the Domain of International Freight Shipping Here To Stay?

International Freight
International Freight Shipping is services used by companies to export or import of products internationally which requires an extra care and scrutiny as compared to the products or goods transferred interstate or intrastate. It requires a bit more planning that your parcel will be delivered safely and on time at the required destination. They have professionals that will take care of your parcel being delivered safely and on time. They take care of the route the parcel goes, the customs the parcel need to pass, keeping the user away from all the worries.
International Freight
International Freight Shipping companies have services called as "freight forwarding" which act as an intermediary between the client and transportation services. The freight forwarder or the agent will not move itself instead it will contract with the carrier to facilitate the movement of goods so it basically acts an agent who can move the cargo from dock-to-door. As in transportation of goods internationally involves many carriers and formalities so all these tasks are handled by the freight carrier. The tasks include miscellaneous costs like consular cost, insurance costs, documentation cost, port charges, also various documents export documents, making necessary custom documents etc. So all these tedious tasks are made simpler by the freight forwarder.
International Freight
While shipping your parcel internationally there are many rules and regulation to be followed, this varies differently from one country to another. It can be different from the origin to the source destination for example a law on the value of the parcel that is being sent can be different. In most of the cases the freight forwarder will help you to abide by these rules and regulation. This is the precise reason for the evolution of the International freight companies in recent times.
A license is required for International Freight Shipping which is issued by the International Freight Transport Association (IFTA) for air transport and the Federal Maritime Commission for ocean shipping.
There are few important documents that one should keep note of while using International Freight shipping. They are as follows:
a) Commercial Invoice: It's a document that lists all the items you are sending, it can be one or many.It also includes the price of the items being shipped next to the name of the item. One should take care of listing all the items along with its price correctly. There can be certain customs on very high valued products, but these custom duties vary differently as per the rules of the country or region.
International Freight
b) Certificate of Origin: This document states that from where you parcel actually came i.e. the origin of the parcel. This is very much important to get all the items customs cleared. As the customs agency verifies that your parcel originally came from here.
Several countries also use the Shipper export declaration document, for example it's mandatory in the US. This document is for a single product whose value is more than $2500, but not for several items summing for $2500.
A good International freight shipping company makes the user aware of the rules and regulation and also gives timely status updates of the current position of the parcel through messages or mails. They also give insurance for any kind of damage or loss to the parcel. So it's important to choose a service that you can trust and that will take care of your goods.

The Business Traveller's Tale - Which Limbic Hot Buttons Got Pressed Today?

Business Traveller's
The recent advances in neuroscience and the insightful and informed writing of people like David Rock in "Your Brain at Work" have brought a new focus to business life. David's work includes the collating and summarising of original research into the function and implications of the limbic system. His SCARF model is a simple but profoundly important illustration of what happens when our limbic system kicks in and rationality takes a back seat.
Business Traveller'sSCARF is an acronym for five sources of potential pain or perceived gain - the limbic "hot buttons". We don't all have them in equal strength but one or more of them can be pressed by situations where things go well or our personal version of disaster looms and we "go limbic".
Status - When the airline tells you you've been upgraded it's only a better seat and more choices on the menu. But it's what that upgrade means to you that's important. Your status button just got positively pressed and you feel good. Flip the situation to where you are told you can't come in the lounge because you booked a cheap ticket and you'll definitely feel the negative side.
Certainty - The captain says "I'm afraid there's a technical problem and we'll be here some time before we take off". For some people, the next hour is dominated by the worry about whether they'll make their connections, or even make it home. The reassuring "We'll make up the lost time en route" will restore the calm with a positive press on that button.
Business Traveller's
Autonomy - Making our own decisions and doing things your way - feeling trusted to do the right thing is a positive press. Being told (for the thousandth time) to take your shoes, jacket, belt, watch off and being handled like cattle in the line waiting to be frisked by security will almost guarantee a negative press on this button.
Relationship - As social animals we all, to a certain degree, want a connection with others. The staff using our name on the flight establishes a relationship connection - and maybe even builds loyalty to that airline. All regular business travellers can recount the opposite - when the cabin crew seemed only interested in each other and the passengers were an interruption to their social club.
Business Traveller's
Fairness - Of all the buttons, this seems to be the one that causes the most upset for the business traveller. Standing in line is fine until someone else jumps the queue. Baggage allowances and baggage fees are OK until someone is allowed to "get away with it". On the positive side we seem to be relaxed even with inconvenience if everyone is feeling the same level of discomfort. If no-one's getting coffee or a meal that's a shame but tolerable.
Understanding these limbic buttons and how they affect you may not make business travel any easier - but it can at least help you to explain to loved ones why it's not the luxury they imagine it to be.

Will High Oil Costs In The Coming Years Prove Boeing's 787 Dreamliner Development Wise?

Boeing's 787
If you have not flown on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, you are missing out, it lives up to its name. If you are a business traveler and get the chance - take it. And always check you might find there is an airline flying that route that will seat you in one of these magnificent aircraft. Okay business traveler, let's talk shall we?
You see, not all is going perfect in the airline industry, so there may be fewer 787 aircraft flying off the shelves for now, but those fuel prices are not coming down anytime soon. Now then, recently Qantas Airlines cancelled its orders for Boeing 787s which amounts to about $5 Billion in lost revenue (at the retail stated price, perhaps 30 to 40% more than actual?). This is unfortunate, and the blame is both with Boeing and Qantas; Boeing due to delays in development, testing, and those darn fuselage fasteners - Qantas due to misjudging its growth strategy with regards to global economics and its unwise purchases of the faulty A380s. Regardless of fault this is problematic for Boeing, as it isn't the first cancellation of a 787 Dreamliners, just the largest one to date.
Boeing's 787
Those who have the airliner say it is far superior in every way, but very costly too, so the money saved in fuel, considering the higher-price tag becomes a business decision dilemma, however if oil barrel prices remain high, which there is a good chance they will, the program will be a great strategy putting Boeing far ahead of the competition. Boeing has placed order for 1000 of the new 787 aircraft (270 or so have been cancelled), and perhaps needs to sell and deliver about 1745 by estimates to make it a profitable plane. That shouldn't be too awfully hard and Boeing analysts figure they will sell some 2700 at the turn of 2030.
Boeing's 787
The competing strategy by Airbus with the A350 seems to be flying nowhere fast, and already has severe challenges with development. The Boeing 787 is meeting or exceeding its 20% increase in fuel efficiency report those airlines which have them already in operations, and we shall see if the aircraft meets the goals of being 30-35% cheaper to maintain, but chances are it will. There are also costs associated with training maintenance personnel on a whole new aircraft, and although the major components are similar, it is a fully composite aircraft, so everything is new in that regard.
There was a decent article on all this in the Wall Street Journal on 8-24-2012 titled; "Boeing 787 Profit Plan Strained by Order Cuts," by Jon Ostrower which reiterated some of what I have discussed above here and one shouldn't be surprised with the cancellations or "order cuts" because we are in a global slowdown in all major markets - Japan, EU, China, US, and Australia is challenged to keep up while India, Russia, Brazil, have all gone flat, zero-GDP growth right now.
Boeing's 787
So, yes the Dreamliner is a cut above and a drastic improvement considering all the advances in jet airliners since the 1970s, but that technology costs money, and that development cost is steep, so that all has to be paid back. Either way, this is one beautiful aircraft and if you are a business traveler and if I were you I'd request it for your next business trip. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Factors of Freight Shipping Quotes
Packaging and Weight are important factors that affect the cost of shipping. The mass of shipping material depends on choosing a packaging material. Proper packing to avoid damage is vital. Ensure to choose a package material that not only ensures secure packaging but also can ship the product without wasting empty space. Besides weight, fragility also influences the cost of shipping as fragile items have to be handled with special care and thereby increase the shipping cost.Ensure to make exact measurement and weight of the shipping item should include packing materials, bubble wrap, strap etc. Exact weight of the item is necessary to receive the most accurate freight quote.
Another vital factor that determines Freight Shipping Quotes is a mode of transportation. There are three modes of transportation namely land, sea and air. Overland transportation is the most economical option. However, it is time consuming and timely delivery is not assured. It is an ideal mode for short distance needs. The Conversation Around Healthy Business Travel Has to Change Here's Why

Business TravelThere is a distinction to be made between the Jet Lagged and the Jet Stressed. It is the same difference between the chronic and the acute. One is acute and the other is chronic. Jet stress is in fact chronically acute. The value of this distinction alone is what separates those who fly well and those who don't. A second valuable observation to our cause is that any time Man has conquered or thrived in an environment he has done so by taking his own environment with him. To beat jet lag in all it's forms you and I must do the same, frequent fliers more so than others. The current conversation on the subject of flying well repeat the buzz words like body clock and melatonin too often without a change in results or progress. The conversation is long in the tooth with the same tired advice - get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water and keep your mind active. Old wives tales and a pastiche of personal remedies exist alongside rigid scientific data. The masses of frequent fliers and business travellers are confounded and struggle to make sense of disjointed and often confusing information. Productivity, personal health, relationships and global business's bottom line suffers.
The Most Intensive Frequent Fliers Hold The Key
I once read some good business advice which preached the value of catering to the extremes of a target audience. The notion was that if they were catered for all other demographics within that target market would be well taken care of. Frequent business fliers are representative of this extreme. An article in Wired magazine* charted the travel paths of business fliers over a year demonstrating the intensity of travel schedules of frequent fliers. The goals of business travellers to maximise productivity on the road, make the right impressions, close the deal and stay healthy bring home the urgency of the conversation at hand.
Unhealthy Flying Doesn't Pay, What Are The Costs
Business Travel
The price we pay for not dealing with frequent flying challenges and it's associated woes outweighs the benefits. The costs are measured on a personal and global business scale. You can measure it on the personal scale with the tendency towards weight gain, insomnia, tiredness, fatigue, adrenal stress, hormone irregularities, trouble conceiving and the list goes on and on. The cost to global business is measured in millions of dollars in lost productivity. A 2003 New York Times survey* estimated that heavy-duty business travellers lost about 20 per cent productivity due to trans-meridian travel. A recent AirPlus Traveller Productivity White Paper* also highlights the link between business travel and productivity.
Solutions Need An Upgrade
Business Travel
Over the short ascent of global business travel and globalisation many advances and efficiencies have been made in the area of civil aviation. The hardware of the trade, the planes have seen many modifications including fly by wire technology and a new generation of fuel-efficient planes to take us into the 21st century. Contrast that with the plight of the frequent business flier, healthy flying advice has remained static. There has been no respite in terms of the pressure and demands in the workplace. Global mobile working is on the increase see the Worldwide ERC website* for confirmation.
Look to Hollywood as an example of what I mean by this. A script is produced, a film is cast, locations are scouted out and the cast goes on location to shoot. Travelling to locations are incidental to the outcomes sought be it a film or a business meeting. Yet the quality of the end product can depend so much on the well-being of the participants. As globalisation makes the world smaller and calls for collaborative groups to come together in the name of a common goal over a short period of time, the need to be fully functional and productive is a conditional necessity for success.
Pharmaceutical Interventions The Only Show in Town, Really?
Business Travel
Until now the loudest voice heard in this conversation has been that of the pharmaceutical industry. Representative of this was Cephalon's failed bid* to get the FDA to permit the sale of Nuvigil as cure for jet lag. It speaks to the default mode of operation, a pill for every ill and re-classifies jet lag from a costly inconvenience into an illness. This brings me to the point I want to make - better living through chemistry does have its limits. The entire idea that you can continually drug yourself out of jet lag over the span of your career of flying and come out ahead is moot. Workforce mobility and globalisation on the horizon should make this obviously clear by now. Any conversation about a cure to the problems of jet lag has to have an element of sustainability about it, and this is where current approaches fall down.
Let's Start with The First Question
Business Travel
The required change in tone of conversation is not complete without looking at the definition we give jet lag. Up until now it is characterised as being all about the body clock to the exclusion of anything else. As useful as this is it is limiting in the creativity we can bring to finding a sustainable solution. The discussion has to include a Jet Lag 101 course which asks questions like what is jet lag in its entirety? How does it affects you differently from me? How can you take charge of your solution? What guiding principles and methodologies we can all relate to and use? Without this first step we are doomed to looking at the same information but expecting a different answer. Scientific data is useful in dissecting the mechanisms of jet lag but we need to look beyond that to find a workable solution. Just to be clear any sustainable methodology has to be able to stand up to scientific examination to gain acceptance and credibility. However it starts with an inclusive discussion rather than graphing an old understanding onto an environment and condition which is current, dynamic and changing.

Various Kinds of Humidity Sensors

Humidity SensorsHumidity is the amount of water vapors present in the air. There are certain terminologies that are often used to calculate the humidity content in the air.
Absolute humidity. This is the ratio of water to air that is the total amount of water vapors present in the air at given time.
Relative humidity: This is the ratio of total quantity or air that is present in the form of gaseous vapors to the total quantity of moisture that air can absorb into it.
Specific humidity - this is the specific amount of water vapors in specific amount of air.
Humidity is measured in gram per cubic centimeter (g/cm3). On day to day basis we generally talk about relative humidity. Humidity content in atmosphere is measured by the humidity monitor that consists of humidity sensors and humidity controllers. There can be different kind of sensors that can be based on different principles. Here is a brief description of various humidity monitoring devices
Hygrometer/Psychrometer: In this system a pair of similar thermometer is used one of which is kept wet while the other one is kept dry. Difference between their values is recorded. Considering the ambient value of dry one and relative difference in their temperature, the moisture content in the air is calculated.
Humidity Sensors
Bulk Polymer Resistive Sensor: this is an electric humidity sensor using capacitors and resistors. A grid of interlocked electrodes are placed on an insulating substrate a humidity sensitive salt is embedded on polymer resin and a coating of mixture is applied on electrodes. The resin is coated with protective coating that is permeable to water vapors. As water permeates, ionization begins and polymer ions become mobile. The impedance of sensor is measure and percent relative humidity is calculated.
Humidity Sensors
Capacitive Sensor: In this kind of humidity monitoring systems porous electrodes are placed in parallel position on a substrate. The dielectric material in the middle of electrodes absorbs water form the air with changing humidity. The capacitance of sensor changes due to change in humidity. This kind of sensors can be used at high altitudes and is suitable to calculate low humidity values.
Bang-bang controller: This is also known as on-off control that switches between two extreme states, 0 and 1. This is mostly used to control and minimize the hysteresis effect. If the humidity levels are indicated to be above the given level, the switch shifts its state to trigger a cooling device.
Proportional-integral-derivative controller (PID controller): This is a slightly complicated control loop feedback mechanism that requires a real-time system feedback.
Humidity Sensors
Proportional controller: This is a linear feedback apparatus. The quantity of control measure imposed is directly proportional to the amount of error.
Fuzzy logic controller: In this humidity monitor systems the values do not switch between the two limit states abruptly, but it can also range between the two limits.
These sensors help maintain and control humidity levels of storages and electronic equipment rooms where increased humidity can cause hazards.
